Jalen Hurts could play Giants on Sunday

(Philadelphia) Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is “on track” to start Sunday’s game against the New York Giants after he missed the previous two games with a back injury. ‘right shoulder.

Head coach Nick Sirianni declined to confirm if Hurts will start as the Eagles (13-3) look to finish first in the National Conference standings, which they will achieve with a win.

For the first time since his injury, Hurts trained on a limited basis this week.

Hurts was injured Dec. 18 after a hard tackle in a game against the Chicago Bears. The Eagles lost the next two games with Gardner Minshew at quarterback.

Hurts has completed 22 touchdown passes and racked up 3,472 yards through the air this season. Added to that are his rushing yards of 747 and 13 touchdowns.

That total of 35 touchdowns allowed him to tie the team mark set by Randall Cunningham in 1990.

“He did a little more this week,” Sirianni said.

“I thought he threw the ball well last week. But you’re talking about healing going forward and those are the things that you can’t see. We take all aspects into account. We are not going to send a single player (into the field) if he is likely to end up in a worse situation than the one he is already in. »
