Jake Allen signs a two-year contract extension with the Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens have granted goaltender Jake Allen a two-year contract extension.

General manager Kent Hughes made the announcement in a press release on Saturday morning.

The agreement binds Allen with the Canadiens until the end of the 2024-2025 season and has an average annual value of $3.85 million.

The 32-year-old Allen played 35 games with the Canadiens last season, posting a 9-20-4 record, 3.30 goals-against average and .905 save percentage. The Fredericton native , in New Brunswick, also had two shutouts.

In career, Allen has appeared in 353 games with the St. Louis Blues and the Canadiens, and he has an overall record of 168-126-35.

The six-foot-two, 195-pound goaltender has posted a 2.60 goals-against average and .911 save percentage since his NHL debut, in addition to having 23 shutouts.

Drafted in the second round (34th overall) in 2008 by the Blues, Allen went to the Canadian in return for a draft pick on September 2, 2020.

Allen is scheduled to meet with reporters around noon on Saturday.

In the evening, the Canadiens will play a fourth preseason game, in Ottawa against the Senators.
