Jair Bolsonaro discharged from Florida hospital after bowel problem

(Orlando) Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was released from the Florida hospital where he was admitted on Sunday for intestinal problems, an AFP journalist noted on Tuesday.

Shortly after 7 p.m., Jair Bolsonaro got out of a vehicle with another person, and rushed to the house in the suburbs of Orlando where he has been living since December 30.

The day before, the former far-right president had confirmed on social networks that he had been hospitalized for an intestinal “adhesion”, accompanying his message with a photo of him on his hospital bed.

His discharge from hospital comes two days after the assault on Sunday, by thousands of his supporters, of the Presidential Palace, Congress and the Supreme Court of Brazil, in protest against his defeat in the presidential election of 2022 against the candidate from the left Lula.

Jair Bolsonaro had left Brazil for Florida two days before Lula’s inauguration on 1er January, refusing to hand over the presidential sash to the one whose victory he has never digested on the wire. He is staying at the home of a former Brazilian MMA fighter, José Aldo.

The ex-far-right leader has suffered a succession of health alerts since the stabbing attack he suffered in September 2018, in the midst of the presidential election campaign.

Stabbed in the abdomen by an apparently unbalanced individual during a walkabout, he had narrowly escaped death and the aftermath of this attack had marred his mandate.
