Jaguar Land Rover suspends vehicle deliveries to Russia

(London) The British car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) announced on Tuesday the suspension of its vehicle deliveries to Russia, in a country which is seeing an increase in Western sanctions on its economy.

“We are suspending the delivery of vehicles to the Russian market,” announced JLR, which belongs to the Indian group Tata, in a press release sent to AFP, pointing out “the commercial challenges” posed by the current global context.

“There are now a growing number of companies and governments joining the entire international community in isolating Russia, both diplomatically and financially,” he said.

The British energy group Centrica, parent company of the supplier British Gas, announced on Tuesday evening that it intended to end its gas supply agreements with Russian companies, in particular Gazprom.

The world’s largest heavy-duty manufacturer Daimler Truck for its part suspended Monday “until further notice” its activities in Russia, including cooperation “of a civil nature” with the truck producer Kamaz which also supplies the Russian army.
