During the 2022 Oscars, Will Smith stepped up to the plate when Chris Rock dared to make a joke where he made fun of the shaved head of Jada Pinkett Smith,
unaware that she had alopecia. Furious, the actor went on stage to slap him. A gesture which cost the father dearly since he was banned from the ceremony for ten years.
Four months after the events, Will Smith publicly apologized to the comedian in a video posted on YouTube. In this one, Jada Pinkett Smith’s husband
said : “Chris I apologize. There’s no part of me that thinks that was the right way to do it at that time. My behavior was unacceptable. I didn’t realize how many people were hurt by this (…) I was not rational, everything was vague (…) It was my own choice, from my own experiences, from my history with Chris. Jada had nothing to do with this. (…) I apologize to my children and my family for all of this.”

But that’s not all since Jada Pinkett Smith notably confided that Chris Rock asked her to go out with her after hearing rumors saying that she had divorced Will Smith. “I think every summer rumors would come out that Will and I were getting divorced. And that summer, Chris, he thought we were going to divorce. So he called me and basically said, “I’d love to go out with you.” » And I said to him, “What do you mean? » He said to me, “Well, aren’t you and Will getting divorced?” ‘I was like, ‘No. Chris, these are just rumors. » He was dismayed. And he apologized profusely and that was it.” A reaction which should not help the relationship between the two men.
