The police intervention, the second of its kind in less than 24 hours in the Longueuil region, began around 11:50 a.m. at the school on rue Gentilly.
All students and staff members of the school were ordered to confine themselves to their respective premises due to the possible presence of “individuals who could represent a threat in the vicinity of the school”.
However, the police quickly located the person who allegedly made the phone call that sparked all this commotion.
The teenager was placed under arrest and was to be met by investigators during the afternoon.
She could be charged with public mischief.
This was the second time in less than 24 hours that a barricaded confinement took place in a Longueuil school.
As recently as Monday, approximately 2,600 students and staff members of André-Laurendeau secondary school, located in the Saint-Hubert sector, were confined inside their premises for approximately two hours.
A call made to the police suggested that armed individuals were in the school.
In the end, the police concluded that it was “a bad joke” and an investigation was opened to try to find the author of this phone call.
