Jacques Legros decided to take stock of his career through a book entitled Behind the screen: 40 years at the heart of the media. A book to be published on October 5, but excerpts from which have already been shared. And not the least since they concerned Jean-Pierre Pernaut, the journalist for whom Jacques Legros was the joker in the 1 p.m. newspaper of TF1 for 24 years.
Against all odds, he paints an unflattering portrait of JPP, who died last March. “JI know he was itching to comment on my diary. He never spoke to me directly. The editors have always been able to spare the susceptibilities. Except once…“, he wrote, then referring to an episode in particular, which occurred during the first confinement in 2020.
“We had therefore installed an automatic mini-studio in his home. But he wanted to keep the leading role and asked the team more than necessary. (…) He was reluctant to share. He wanted more and more to take control of the whole newspaper. (…) I was starting to boil inside, until one day I broke out, gathered my stuff and started back to the parking lot and my car. Since he wanted to do the newspaper for me, let him come and do it!“, he relates.
Of “post-mortem jealousy”
Confidences that made Nathalie Marquay, the wife of Jean-Pierre Pernaut, jump. Contacted by Guillaume Genton in The Morning without filter this Tuesday, September 27, she let her anger burst. “I completely hallucinated and above all, Mr. Jacques Legros forgets that he was only his joker. He allows himself to complain that at that time JP wanted to keep control of the content of the newspaper. But who for more than 30 years has set the tone for 1 p.m. and who has been attributed the audience results?“, she recalled.
Nathalie Marquay went further by revealing that “Jacques Legros was doing whore shots“to her late husband. And for her to detail:”During confinement, Jean-Pierre had to have 15 minutes on the air. And each time, Jacques Legros did longer and longer subjects. Towards the end he only had six minutes left on the air“. Thus, it is no more nor less than the “post-mortem jealousy“.”What a lack of respect for our grieving family. I really ask myself the question: why this unpacking to sell this book? Fortunately JP is not there. And frankly it is better, because we would have had a shock“, she concluded.
