It is a surreal sequence that viewers of 1 p.m. on TF1 discovered this Thursday, November 2, 2023. Jacques Legros interviewed for several long minutes a special correspondent who was in the epicenter of storm Ciaran, even though the winds were over 150 km/h. An extremely dangerous duplex, which TF1 authorized, despite the risks imposed on their reporter Vincent Lahmautwho had great difficulty standing up and carrying out his work. “Jacques, that’s it, we’re at the peak of the storm, 130 km/h, that’s the average wind speed. You see, it’s very difficult to move. We even reach gusts of 150, we are very close to records here” began the journalist, who continued to retreat in spite of himself, carried away by the gusts falling on him.
From Wimereux, the journalist recalled the major risk that the storm represents for the sea, since significant marine submersion is expected. It turns out that Vincent Lahmaut was precisely a few dozen meters from the seamore unleashed than ever… A lunar sequence, especially since Jacques Legros a few minutes later criticized the Bretons for leaving their homes to confront the gusts: “They even took the risk of going out and even approaching the waves, which is really not advisable” he assured.
Viewers are offended
On the Web, many viewers relayed this sequence, which quickly became viral, and denounced it, pointing out the reporter’s endangerment: “On TF1: Unconscious people do not hesitate to brave the storm. Five minutes later : Don’t hesitate to send us your photos of the storm“ one of them cursed. An opinion that many other viewers shared: “No, but TF1 isn’t okay? You left your journalists outside, by the sea, in the middle of a storm? The poor journalist in front of the camera could barely stand, what’s your problem?”, “Apart from making fun of yourself, what is the point of doing an interview in the middle of a storm on the beach… Poor journalist”.
