Jack Harlow, Lil Nas X, Kendrick Lamar favorites at MTV Video Music Awards





(Los Angeles) Jack Harlow, Lil Nas X and Kendrick Lamar are the favorites for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), with seven nominations each.

MTV announced this Tuesday that Lil Nas X and Harlow have earned multiple nominations for their success. Industry Babywhich is notably in the running in the category of music video of the year.

The two artists, along with Drake, Bad Bunny, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles and Lizzo, will compete for the Artist of the Year award.

Kendrick Lamar, who is nominated for the first time since 2018, has two songs ― family ties and N95 ― in the running for the prize for the best cinematography.

Harry Styles and Doja Cat each have six nominations, while Ed Sheeran, Billie Eilish, Drake, Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd have five each.

Madonna, the most decorated artist in MTV history with 20 awards, becomes the only artist nominated in each of the five decades the VMAs have been held. She gets her 69e selection for his 14e album, Mrs X.

Twenty-six artists earned first-ever citations, including Baby Keem, Kacey Musgraves, GAYLE and Måneskin.

The VMAs gala will be held on August 28 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The public can vote for the winners of 22 categories at vote.mtv.com.
