Jack Harlow, Lil Nas X and Kendrick Lamar favorites at MTV Video Music Awards

Jack Harlow, Lil Nas X and Kendrick Lamar are the frontrunners for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) gala, with seven nominations each.

MTV announced Tuesday that Lil Nas X and Harlow earned multiple nominations for their hit “Industry Baby,” which is up for Music Video of the Year.

Both artists, along with Drake, Bad Bunny, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles and Lizzo, will be vying for Artist of the Year.

Kendrick Lamar, who is nominated for the first time since 2018, has two songs — “family ties” and “N95” — up for Best Cinematography.

Harry Styles and Doja Cat each have six nominations, while Ed Sheeran, Billie Eilish, Drake, Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd have five each.

Madonna, the most decorated artist in MTV history with 20 awards, becomes the only artist nominated in each of the five decades the VMAs have been held. She gets her 69th nomination for her 14th studio album, “Madame X”.

Twenty-six artists earned first-ever nominations, including Baby Keem, Kacey Musgraves, GAYLE and Måneskin.

The VMAs gala will be held August 28 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The public can vote for the winners of 22 categories at vote.mtv.com.
