The first round of the Wimbledon tournament begins at the All England Club in London on Monday June 27. A particular 2022 edition marked by the absence of Russian and Belarusian players, excluded by the tournament organizers due to the international context, but also by the non-attribution of WTA and ATP points.
In the men’s draw, two legends make their debut on Center Court. Novak Djokovic (20 Grand Slam titles) will face the Korean Kwon Soon-woo, 81st in the world. He will be followed by Briton Andy Murray, opposed to Australian James Duckworth. Note that Casper Ruud, finalist at Roland-Garros in June, will start his tournament against the 39th in the world, the Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas. Five Tricolores, including Benoît Paire and Quentin Halys who challenge each other on court n°9, are also on the program.
On the women’s side, the French Océane Dodin, Diane Parry, Kristina Mladenovic and finally Caroline Garcia, titled Saturday in Bad Homburg in Germany, are expected on the courts. The seeds Anett Kontaveit (3rd in the world) and Maria Sakkari (5th) are also on the bill for this first day in the English garden.
