(Monastir) Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur easily qualified for the quarter-finals of the hard-court tournament in Monastir (Tunisia) by beating Russia’s Evgeniya Rodina 6-1, 6-3 on Thursday.

Currently 2e world player, and seeded N.1 of the tournament, Jabeur did not go into detail by achieving 6 aces, for none to her rival.
Jabeur will face American Claire Liu in the quarter-finals. The other meetings will oppose the Japanese Moyuka Uchijima to the Belgian Elise Mertens, seeded N.5, the Slovenian Tamara Zidansek to the French Alizé Cornet, seeded N.3, and the Russian Veronika Kudermetova, seeded N.2 , to another Frenchwoman, Diane Parry.
The Monastir tournament, on hard, which makes its first appearance on the WTA calendar, is the second tournament of the women’s professional circuit organized in Africa, after that of Rabat in Morocco.
Ons Jabeur, 28, seeded No.1 in the tournament, enjoys immense popularity. She said at a press conference on Sunday that she hoped to “reach the final and win in Monastir to make Tunisians happy” and thus continue “to be a good example for all the young people who follow her”.
