At certain Montreal gas stations, prices rose to more than $1.92 per liter, whereas the day before gas was only $1.75.
The motorists met in the metropolis all deplored this increase in the cost of gasoline.
“It’s theft, absolutely,” commented a first road user.
“I’m about to change jobs at this price. That doesn’t make any sense. I don’t have a big salary, I won’t make it like that. I’m not happy,” added another motorist.
“It’s a bit exaggerated, but we have no choice, it takes [de l’essence]“, commented a third person.
- Listen to the interview with Dan McTeague, president of the Association of Canadians for Affordable Energy, with Yasmine Abdelfadel on QUB:
In the National Capital, prices experienced the same upward trend, while the price of gasoline at the pump was trading at 18.99, up about ten cents.
Such an increase of more than 15 cents has not been observed for almost two years, according to experts who expected a variation, but not as brutal.
Gasoline price analyst Dan McTeague noted in a post on his X account that prices in Ontario and Quebec have reached a peak since August 2022.
According to Mr. McTeague, fuels should therefore fluctuate upwards with prices oscillating between $1.75 and $1.95 per liter during next summer.
