“It’s the order of things”, reacts Stanislas Guerini who invites the unions to “get back around the table”

Guest of 8:30 a.m. from franceinfo this Saturday, the Minister of Transformation and Public Service refuted the accusations of “brutality” targeting Emmanuel Macron, who promulgated the pension reform last night.

The pension reform law was officially promulgated in the Official Journal on the night of Friday April 14 to Saturday April 15, just hours after the green light from the Constitutional Council. “It’s applying the law”reacts Stanislas Guerini, Minister of Transformation and the Public Service, on franceinfo, while the opposition accuses the government of having acted as “thieves”. “It was for the most part validated by the Constitutional Council, that’s the order of things”, says the minister.

“Does that mean, now, that there is nothing more to do, nothing more to discuss? Of course not! We must continue the dialogue”continues Stanislas Guerini, referring to a law “unpopular”, but “useful and necessary” for the country and the preservation of the French social model. While the intersyndicale called on the president to “to temporize” and to “not enacting the law” if he wants “calm anger”the Minister of Transformation and the Public Service considers that it is necessary “return around the negotiating table”.

Although there has never been a possible compromise on the postponement of the legal retirement age, Stanislas Guerini considers that the government must now “discuss with the trade unions the measures that have been rejected” by the Constitutional Council. According to him, these measures, like the senior index, must not be abandoned. “We will have to find the ways and means so that these measures can be applied, they are extremely important”adds Stanislas Guerini.

“On the measures not validated as on the measures which appear in the text, I am thinking of gradual retirement in the public service, the subject is to discuss it with the unions”,

The inter-union has already made it known that it would not accept the invitation launched by Emmanuel Macron and that it did not want an exchange with the executive before May 1, the date of the next national mobilization. “Our responsibility is to propose, to move forward on important subjects for the French, the employment of seniors, the quality of work, the prevention of hardship”, concludes Stanislas Guerini.
