“We are in the habit of not making speeches. Since 2015, there has been no speech in all the places where there have been attacks. Traditionally, it is the presidents of associations of memory and victims who speak up “, explains Emmanuel Grégoire.

The families of the victims are “proven” by two months of trial, according to Emmanuel Grégoire. “Listening to pleadings every day is both very important and a great psychological burden, it is to plunge back into extremely painful memories”, ensures the first deputy to the town hall of Paris.

“What is important is that this be a moment of commemoration which brings together all Parisians, which brings together all French people.”

Regarding the trial of the attacks of November 13, “The victims’ associations were very sensitive to the exceptional means put in place. A temporary courtroom, the largest courtroom in France, was created to allow all the civil parties to be able to attend”, explains Emmanuel Grégoire.

At the start of the trial, the city of Paris became a civil party, a choice that may have been badly perceived by some associations. “I don’t know if it’s badly perceived”, shade Emmanuel Grégoire. “It is estimated that the city of Paris as a moral person had to suffer the effects caused by the authors of these dramas”, he concludes.
