Head to the “Quartier Jeunes”, a place entirely dedicated to those under 30, located in the heart of the capital, opposite the Louvre museum. Open since September 2021, the “QJ” offers to help young people find solutions to their needs (employment, health, access to law, housing, sport, etc.).
Mathilde, 24, has just completed studies in economics. She goes to the “QJ” to take advantage of the coworking space where she works on her end-of-studies internship which she does at a distance. For her, working in economics is a way of doing politics differently.
“I consider that we are in a world where there are more and more ecological, social and economic tensions and that we cannot afford to waste public resources. I don’t really like wasted potential, that’s why I want to invest myself in it “.
Mathilde wants to work in the field of economics since high school. “This allows me to combine what I manage to work for easily with an impact that I would like to have on society, like many young people.“.
Politics is something that really concerns all of us.
Mathilde “understands the discouragement of part of the electorate“:”For those who are used to voting more on the left, we are a little discouraged by the looming presidential election.“. According to her, “current policies do not really go in the direction of more social equality, individual freedoms “.
Regarding the 2022 presidential election, the 24-year-old doubts the usefulness of her vote. “There are some very interesting candidates, but we tell ourselves that if we vote for them, our vote will be useless. I tell myself that if I vote for the candidate who is close to my heart, he or she will make 5% or 10% and compared to Macron, Le Pen or Zemmour one wonders if it will be of any use. It’s sad to think that we are going to vote for our values and our fights and that it will be useless“.
