“It’s not Emmanuel Macron’s success, it’s a collective success”estimated Sunday September 15 in Questions politiques on France Inter, Sébastien Chenu, National Rally MP for the North, while the final curtain call for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games was given on Saturday September 14 with the Champions Parade on the Champs-Élysées.
This long sporting sequence carried away the French this summer with a fervour that will go down in the history of the Games. “It was not a foregone conclusion, it must be said. We could even have doubts, and besides, we had reasons to doubt.”but “It was quite successful”admits the RN deputy.
Sébastien Chenu goes even further: “I liked Thomas Jolly’s work. I’m not a fan of everything”notably the appearance of Philippe Katerine but “Overall I found that Thomas Jolly, French scenographer and director, made us shine”he says.
Yet, in March, Marine Le Pen was already speaking “of humiliation” on France Inter while the presence of Aya Nakamura in the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games had leaked to the press. “Marine Le Pen warned and she was right to warn. There is always the will in Emmanuel Macron, this side that he imagines to be transgressive, modern, to shake up patterns that sometimes border on the ridiculous.”said Sébastien Chenu.
But in the end, the deputy from the North found the choreography of the diva accompanied by the Republican Guard rather “friendly” grace “in the scenography, the imagination of Thomas Jolly”.
“It’s a success for the French. I don’t want to give that to Emmanuel Macron”he insists. He also gave a good point to the resigning Minister of the Interior: “Gérald Darmanin put resources into security during this sequence and as a result, we had no problems. That doesn’t counterbalance Gérald Darmanin’s appalling record in terms of security.”he said.
Sébastien Chenu does not deny the success of the Games in Paris: “I admit it, I try to be objective in my way of operating”he said. “I was proud of France. Honestly, the most indisputable success was that of our athletes during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. They were fantastic.”the MP greeted.
