It’s a failure that hurts! Valérie Pécresse collected only 5.1% of the votes after the first round of the presidential elections, this Sunday, April 10. A historically low score for the historic right-wing political party of the Fifth Republic. The candidate did not succeed in her bet to convince the voters and therefore finished in fifth place, behind Eric Zemmour. For the third time in a row, the right is struggling to stand out from its competitors. A great disappointment for voters, but mainly for members of the Republicans. Before reacting to the defeat of her candidate, Rachida Dati gave her opinion on the candidate president, Emmanuel Macron. The former minister was the guest of France 2, this Sunday, April 10.
For Rachida Dati, Emmanuel Macron should not be happy with the results of the presidential election. Came in first with 28.5% of the votes, at 8 p.m., Brigitte Macron’s husband scored better than in 2017. For the former Minister of Justice, the Head of State, candidate for his own election, benefited from the “useful vote”. “Today, Emmanuel Macron’s score, I do not believe it is a membership vote”, she said to Anne-Sophie Lapix. And to add: “I don’t consider it a victory for Emmanuel Macron either”.
According to Rachida Dati, the result of the votes for Emmanuel Macron is the failure of his five-year term. The latter failed to carry “the hope of millions of French people” during his years at the Élysée. “He had to disrupt everything if I use his words. He was committed to reducing extremes in our country“, recalls the 56-year-old politician. And to add: “Political commitments are not incidental commitments or as a hobby. It’s a life commitment, it’s a visceral commitment”, she says.
Valérie Pécresse gives her see to Emmanuel Macron
Shortly after the results of the first round, Valérie Pécresse called on her voters to vote in favor of Emmanuel Macron. A vote “to prevent the rise to power of Marine Le Pen and the resulting chaos”, said the Republican candidate.
