“It’s important to come together, to support this speaking out, this courage of women” who filed a complaint against Gérard Depardieu, supports actress Laure Calamy on Tuesday January 2 on France Inter, while the actor is the target of three complaints for rape and sexual assault. If the actress assures that “justice will do its job”she wants to provide support to the victims.

Like 70 personalities from the world of cinema, the actress signed a new forum on the Mediapart website to denounce support for the actor. This “Address to the old world” points the finger at the 56 personalities who spoke through the platform “Don’t erase Gérard Depardieu”published on December 25 in the columns of Le Figaro.

Laure Calamy believes that it is “a French-style MeToo that is happening”. “When we see how difficult it is to file a complaint, especially against a powerful man, the statements made by the President of the Republic are a snub in the face of the courage these women have to file a complaint”says the actress.

She thus criticizes the comments made by Emmanuel Macron who defended Gérard Depardieu during an interview on France 5 on December 20. Laure Calamy intends to highlight “courage” women who have “overcame the fear and shame that we feel when we are a victim of rape”.
