Ludivine Sagnier, who disappeared during the editing of Napoleon by Ridley Scott, takes things philosophically. “In this profession, nothing is taken for granted”she confided to Parisian.

His name appears in the credits of Napoleon but we don’t see it on the screen. Ludivine Sagnier played a secondary character, a Spanish aristocrat, Théresa Cabarrus. This friend of Joséphine de Beauharnais had decided, during the Terror, “to sleep with prefects or men of revolutionary power to convince them not to send people to the scaffold”, tells Ludivine Sagnier Parisian from Friday November 24.

“It was still a small role”

“Obviously, it’s still a little frustrating, quite disappointing, but there are bigger disappointments than that in life,” confides the actress, philosopher, in the daily newspaper. “It was still a small role (…) and I saw that Ridley Scott had filmed a lot of things.”

“This in no way takes away from the pleasure and incredible experience of having acted in this feature film,” rejoices the 44-year-old actress, who talks about “extreme Hollywood cinema, thought on an enormous and rare scale, directed by an artist”. She also talks about the pleasure of working with Joaquin Phoenix, Vanessa Kirby and Tahar Rahim, something “quite exceptional”.

At this point in her career, she believes that “It’s something of a small setback.” Moreover, she spoke about it with her students at the Kourtrajmé collective school, telling them that “we are never safe from frustrations” in this job : “Nothing is certain but it’s almost refreshing.” And then, normally, Ludivine Sagnier should appear in the long version of the film which will be broadcast on Apple TV+
