it’s clogged for the first departures

Barely left and already arrested. After traffic jams in Île-de-France or Rhône-Alpes, while the road is still long, these holidaymakers near Lons-le-Saunier (Jura) take the situation philosophically: “We listen to the radio, we discuss and we take care of ourselves as best we can.” On leaving Paris, traffic is particularly complicated. This family is prepared: “There is the snack break with the small picnic luggage and above it is all that is clothes”. But what worries them more than the road is the heavy context that they are determined to forget during the holidays: “Nothing is going well. The war in Ukraine, the Covid, the fires, the pollution”. Not to mention more and more expensive refueling, with purchasing power at half mast: “We are close to the euro. But we have to go on vacation. We were deprived of vacation for two years with the Covid-19. So we have this pleasure there, but we count a lot more than before”.

There are also crowds at the station. And in these closed spaces, it is the resurgence of the Covid-19 which is in the heads with in addition, a dilemma: to wear the mask or not. Some prefer to do without: “It’s quite liberating not to have the mask, so it’s hard to go back”. Departures that promise to be even more numerous on Saturday July 9, in stations and on the roads.
