The air traffic controllers’ unions, including the main one, the SNCTA, have filed a strike notice for Thursday. This strike is linked to the failure of negotiations on the air navigation services reform project.

The air traffic controllers’ strike planned for Thursday April 25 will be closely followed. The SNCTA, a union which represents around 60% of air traffic controllers (National Union of Air Traffic Controllers) announced in a press release a strike action by air traffic controllers and traffic monitoring agents. All trade union organizations have joined the movement, which could cause the cancellation of 70% of flights. “We obviously choose periods of vacation and leave. We must regulate this type of movement. We cannot disrupt the lives of travelers like that”deplores Michel Quidort, vice-president of the Federation of Transport Users.

“Allow travelers to plan a plan B”

Air traffic controllers had until midday on Tuesday to individually declare themselves on strike or not 48 hours in advance, as is already the case at the RATP or the SNCF. “Notifying two days in advance is not enough to allow travelers to plan a plan B and to allow airlines to know who will or will not strike to guarantee flights”he adds.
