Unemployment insurance reform: “It’s a real social war” that the government has “decided to wage”, criticizes Fabien Roussel, national secretary of the PCF

Fabien Roussel, French Communist Party (PCF) deputy from the North and national secretary of the party, was the guest of “4 Vérités” on France 2, Tuesday April 2.
The Prime Minister promised, during an interview on TF1 on March 27, a reform of unemployment insurance from 2024, with entry into force in the fall. Gabriel Attal notably mentioned the idea of going from 18 to 12 months of compensation, as well as that of tightening the rules for unemployment for seniors.
“I notice that the government is choosing to attack the unemployed rather than tackling unemployment. It is a real social war that they have decided to wage”, tance Fabien Roussel, national secretary of the French Communist Party (PCF), in the “4 Truths” on France 2, Tuesday April 2.
“People can’t get by anymore”
“What I want first of all is for someone who works, and who works hard, to be paid according to the sweat they put into their work. (…) But today, between electricity bills, the cost of health, transport, food baskets, people can no longer get by”affirms the PCF deputy from the North, adding that “it’s here” where the government “wages a social war”.
“And that’s where I call it a scam, because they’re lying to us, in fact. When they tell us: ‘You have to make an effort, tighten your belt’, it’s false. At the same time time, there are 67 billion euros in dividends which were paid, once again, to the 1% of the richest tax households in our country”denounces Fabien Roussel.
