“It’s a full-time task”, reacts Aurélien Pradié, potential candidate too

The party presidency “is a full-time job”, reacted Saturday, September 3 on franceinfo the secretary general of the Republicans, Aurélien Pradié, to the announcement of the official candidacy of Bruno Retailleau to take the lead of the right-wing party. The boss of the LR senators formalized his candidacy on Friday in an interview with Le Figaro but does not intend to let go of the Republican group in the Senate. He will face Eric Ciotti, the only declared candidate for the moment. “Bruno Retailleau is an excellent chairman of the senatorial group and he must remain so”said Aurélien Pradié.

Same message sent to the address of the deputy of the Alpes-Maritimes: “Eric Ciotti is an excellent quaestor in the National Assembly. He is an excellent president of the national investiture committee. He must devote a lot of time to it. The reconstruction of the Republicans for the next president is a full-time job”said the secretary general of the Republicans.

Aurélien Pradié does not wish to reinstall “the war of the bosses” within his political family: “We obviously have all the candidates common points on sovereign issues, on questions of authority. We belong to the same political family and therefore do not go looking for differences that do not exist”he said. “On the other hand, we have different incarnations”he nuanced.

Aurélien Pradié wanted to take the summer to “mature one’s thinking”. He is expected to announce his candidacy in the coming days: “The idea is not to go and take up a position for the pleasure of taking up a position. It is not a war of bosses that must take place. It must be a moment of total refoundation and I have surely a responsibility to take. I will announce it to you in a few days”, he said. He says “have no doubts” on his decision.

Not yet an official candidate, but Aurélien Pradié already has a well-established program: “We absolutely have to change everything: the name, the place where we are [le siège du parti]the political message that we send to the French”, he listed. A program that echoes that of Bruno Retailleau who wants to review everything “from the ground to the ceiling”.
