An amendment voted by the senators replaces the exceptional back-to-school bonus of 100 euros, reserved for social minima, with an exceptional increase of 150 euros for beneficiaries of the activity bonus.

“It’s a choice that I don’t understand and which in my opinion is unfair”, deplores the deputy Rassemblement national de la Somme Jean-Philippe Tanguy, Wednesday, August 3, about the replacement of the back-to-school bonus. During the examination of the second part of the measures in favor of purchasing power by the senators, an amendment tabled by Les Républicains makes it possible to increase the back-to-school bonus by 50 euros but by reserving it for beneficiaries of the school bonus. activity, instead of all the beneficiaries of social minima.

“It is to make believe that all the people who receive this back-to-school bonus would spend it badly or we would not need it”believes Jean-Philippe Tanguy who assures that “if you are at the RSA, you obviously need help to pay your children for back-to-school clothes, a school bag, pencil cases”.
He says to himself “for a check on the use of this bonus”but “the fact that there is control does not imply that people do not need it”he insists.

“In the Somme which is a department damaged by deindustrialization, families need this help, so I do not understand this amendment”. According to the deputy of the Somme, “there are other cost-saving measures to be taken before hitting the poor families who need this allowance”.
He finally accuses the Republicans “to display” and try to “wash whiter than white on tax issues and on social issues”with this measure.

The Minister Delegate for Public Accounts, Gabriel Attal gave an unfavorable opinion on this amendment which “would be tantamount to withdrawing the benefit of aid from 4 million poor households”.
