In Spain, an official meeting took place between the president of the local government of Catalonia and the country’s Prime Minister. Pere Aragones received Pedro Sanchez in Catalonia on Thursday December 21. A first since the re-election of the Prime Minister, obtained in exchange for a promise of amnesty. The two men agreed to improve public transport, promote the reindustrialization of Catalonia and guarantee multilingualism.
The text cannot come into force without the green light from Italy
In Italy, a majority of MPs, including those from Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s far-right party, voted against ratifying the reform of the euro zone rescue mechanism. This reform aims to strengthen financial assistance to countries in difficulty. Italy is the only country not to have ratified it. Without its green light, the text cannot come into force.
