Italy | Mount Etna volcano produces smoke rings

(Bronte, Italy) The southern crater of the Mount Etna volcano in Sicily produces a large amount of smoke rings visible from many places on the island.

This is a special phenomenon that occurs when gas bubbles rising from the magma chamber along very narrow conduits explode. The rise of the hot gas is slowed by friction with the walls, which gives it a ring shape. Watch on video.
