Easing of health measures in Italy. The country’s authorities decided on Wednesday June 15 to extend the obligation to wear a mask in public transport until September 30, except on planes, to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. A decree-law adopted by the Council of Ministers establishes that “the compulsory wearing of the FFP2 mask is extended until September 30 in public transport, with the exception of planes, in health structures and in establishments for the elderly”.

The FFP2 mask is different from the surgical mask, which was still compulsory in transport in France until May 16. Five times more expensive than surgical masks, FFP2 masks are also more protective.

End of the mask in schools and cinemas

In Italy, with the drop in contamination and the vaccination of the majority of the population, most of the measures have been lifted. From now on, masks will no longer be compulsory either in schools or in cinemas, among other places, as has been the case until now.

The country has recorded nearly 32,000 new cases of contamination and 48 deaths, bringing the total death toll since the start of the pandemic to nearly 168,000, according to figures from the Ministry of Health.
