A veritable deluge fell in central Italy on the afternoon of Thursday, September 15. Friday evening, the results are still provisional: at least ten dead and four missing.
In images taken by a helicopter, we see the province of Ancona, in central Italy, covered by the waters. The sky has taken on color, but on the ground, it is a spectacle of desolation, with houses washed away, trees uprooted and cars carried along by torrents of mud. Heavy rains hit this province on the afternoon of Thursday 15 September. Under the pressure of the current, a bridge even gave way.
Thursday, around 5 p.m.torrential rains fell on the town of Senigallia (Italy). The river quickly came out of its bed, and took everything in its path, under the helpless gaze of the inhabitants. In two hours, the equivalent of six months of rain fell in the region. The sudden rise in water surprised the residents, who had water up to their waists. Four people were found dead in a garage. The provisional toll is ten dead and four missing. The material damage is considerable.
