(Rome) The famous godfather of the Sicilian mafia Matteo Messina Denaro, captured in January after three decades on the run, died in hospital in central Italy, the ANSA news agency reported Monday.
Aged 61, he suffered from colon cancer for which he sought treatment while on the run, a decision which attracted the attention of the authorities who arrested him in a Palermo clinic.
