The Italian Gennaro Gattuso will become the new coach of Olympique de Marseille, according to information from the sports department of Radio France.
According to sources close to the transalpine technician, the former star of AC Milan and the Italian selection, 2006 world champion, once close to signing with Olympique Lyonnais, finally convinced the Marseille club. His tactical flexibility, his experience – this will be his sixth championship – as a player and coach made his candidacy obvious for the Marseille management.
Nothing has filtered yet regarding the duration of his contract, but the 45-year-old coach is expected this week in Marseille and on the bench on Saturday, at the Louis-II stadium against AS Monaco in the of the 7th day of Ligue 1. Gattuso was free from any contract since his ouster from the Spanish club Valencia.
