“It will never last, we can’t continue”, the disturbing confidences of Kev Adams on this long-awaited project…

A grueling and ultra-stressful shoot. On February 22, 2020, the filming of “Retirement home” begins in France. Unfortunately, less than a month after the Covid-19 stops the whole country. From mid-March, the first confinement was announced. An extraordinary situation for directors and actors who have experienced this period particularly badly. A real war.

On January 17, the 25th Alpes d’Huez International Film Festival was launched. The opportunity for the actors to come and present the films of the coming year. Among the respondents to the call, Kev Adams, soon to appear in Retirement home, in which he gives the answer to great actors: Gérard Depardieu, Mylène Demongeot or Daniel Prévost. A film eagerly awaited by fans of the comedian, already impatient for several months “Do you realize that you’re next to Depardieu on a movie poster?”, “That’s so cool! Can’t wait to discover this famous film” as they regularly point out to him in comments.

However, Kev Adams almost never shared the poster with them. And above all, the film also almost never saw the light of day. Invited to the microphone of RTL on Friday January 21, the actor lifted the veil on the various fears, and the tensions on the set “It was very complicated”. And for good reason, the means were lacking, and the desire to give up was in the minds: “We said, look, we can’t. We can’t go on. Financially speaking, it will never last. And above all, we can’t cancel everything now and postpone the whole thing. We are talking about certain actors who are 82 or 83 years old. These are not people who we say we will see next year”.

In the end, all’s well that ends well since the film is about to see the light of day, shortly after the health restrictions are lifted definitively. A nice present.
