“It was the double bass that chose me”, reveals Henri Texier

Henri Texier releases a 26th album, Heteroklite Lockdown (Label Bleu). In the threesome “we must be very united, the three musicians, and then there is not the envelope of a harmonic instrument which will play chords or arpeggios and therefore inevitably we cannot hide behind it. This is part of the nudity”says the jazz musician.

How do we choose the musicians we play with? “The sound first, the attitude, the musical approach, the way of behaving in relation to the music”specifies the jazz musician. “Jazz music is an art form, there is an idiom, there are phrases, a syntax, we don’t say anything with this music”adds Henri Texier.

Henri Texier did not come to the double bass right away. “It was a pure accident, she chose me. A friend played it right next to my ear while I was playing the piano and it was a revelation. I had no attraction for this instrument”explains Henri Texier.
