Garou gave his daughter Émelie a maple ukulele at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Emelie, however, works in astrophysics and has always refused to engage in music.
“I give her that, 24 hours later, she sends me a video where she sings me 3 or 4 songs. I said to him: ‘But did you learn the ukulele like that in 3 hours?’, Garou remembered against Bernard Montiel. “Two days later, she sends me videos of songs she’s composed, and it was really good!“, he continues. Astonished, the singer proposed to Emelie to compose with him. Their collaboration was unfortunately short-lived, the fault of a creative dispute.
Garou was all the same inspired by his daughter by translating a title written and composed by her and by taking a piece of music for another new title, which he will undoubtedly play on stage during his new tour.
The artist rarely talks about his daughter. Little information circulates on the young woman, with the exception of her date of birth, July 7, 2001. Emilie was born from her father’s relationship with Ulrika, a Swedish model.
