“It was not easy to manage psychologically”

Relief for Paul Graou. Victim of a double hand fracture during the only friendly match of the summer with his new club, the scrum half started his season on Saturday in Bayonne. He tells us.

Paul, it must be good to finally play…

“Yes finally! I was finally able to wear the jersey, I was waiting for that with a firm footing.”

How did you experience this false start?

It is not easy to manage psychologically. When you arrive at a club, you always want to prove yourself and you arrive ready. Physically and mentally. I took a little hit on the head but seeing the good performances of my friends on the field gave me strength to come back as soon as possible. I’m happy to be back and I hope things will continue well for the group.”

What goals now that you are fit?

“The objective is to gain a little playing time. Try to maintain the level of the team in times of doubles. We have a lot to prove in this team. We all have to try to give the best of ourselves and that’s what will make for positive results.”

You enter a particular match, where there are 20 points behind…

“There was a good reaction in the second half. We tried to rectify the situation. We manage to snatch this defensive bonus at the end of the match so it’s positive.”

Not surprised by young people?

“No, these are young people who have been with the pros for a while. 19 of the 23 had studied at Stade Toulousain, there is the same fiber of the game. They were not out of place, even uninhibited. They all did well.”
