The 34-year-old man received “two stab wounds in the leg”, said the Italian police in a press release. The supporter was operated on overnight. His vital prognosis is not in jeopardy. “It was clearly an ambush, it was prepared”testifies Tuesday on franceinfo a Parisian supporter.

The supporter who spoke on Radio France was with a group of friends. They left “have a drink by the Canal” in Milan, in a neighborhood “calm” when, around midnight, they saw “around fifty Milanese arrived with black helmets, batons, knee pads, mortars”. “They started charging,” describes the witness. “They came and bludgeoned everyone a little.” One of his friends, according to him, took “a blow from a club in the back”.

Reinforced security before the match

The attack comes less than two months after a Newcastle United supporter was stabbed in the same area of the Italian city before a Champions League match against Milan. The Lombard club and that of the capital meet on Tuesday evening for the 4th day of the group stage of the Champions League, a match classified as risky, in particular due to the arrival in Italy of 4,300 Parisian supporters.

A meeting took place on Tuesday morning between the Parisian club and the Italian authorities, to ensure the transportation of Parisian supporters. According to our information, security has been reinforced as well as supervision of the thousands of Parisian supporters expected this evening. There will be two secure circuits with everything from privatized metros and a procession surrounded by numerous police forces in conjunction with those responsible for the security of the Parisian club.

Milan have been crowned European champions seven times but are currently last with two points, having failed to score a single goal in their first three matches while PSG currently sit top of Group F with six points, after beating the Italians 3-0 at the Parc des Princes, a fortnight ago.
