Michèle Laroque bangs her fist on the table. This Wednesday, November 22, 2023, the 63-year-old actress from Nice took to her Instagram account to share the latest publication from Restos du Cœur. On this, the association denounces: “The only restaurant that risks closing despite 30 million more meals.” And to add: “170 million meals distributed in one year is the largest increase in our history. We are counting on you.”
In the caption, Les Restos du Cœur also indicates that “the scale of the crisis linked to price increases is unprecedented.” Like all French people, the association is experiencing this situation “alongside those” that they welcome, “and often it doesn’t take much for life to turn upside down…”We are launching our 39th campaign, with the determination to stand firm in the face of the needs of the most fragile, to continue to welcome and support, to break the inevitability of poverty and hunger.”she specifies before launching a call for help: “Our 73,000 volunteers, all over France, are taking action and counting on you to continue their missions. You too can help, support the Restos du Cœur!” A cry from the heart which sparked strong reactions.

A worrying situation
On March 3, on the sidelines of the concert of the Enfoirés troupe, our colleagues from Parisian revealed a worrying analysis of the current situation. According to the daily, the Restos du Cœur could still experience a sharp increase in attendance. A trend already observed in 2008 during the financial crisis. At that time, a 25% increase in the number of people helped was recorded in the various centers. Despite this observation, the Restos du Cœur are threatened. To continue its mission, the association would need 35 million euros, according to the president, Patrice Douret.
