“It is unacceptable to fatalistically allow a deficit to develop for the structures that care for our seniors”denounces Friday April 19 on franceinfo Arnaud Chiche, anesthetist-resuscitator and founding president of the Santé en danger collective.

“It’s a scandal. That we are not able to do better for public nursing homes is a real scandal”reacts Arnaud Chiche, who describes “a sector on the verge of implosion”. “Revenues are blocked because public nursing homes are careful not to increase their prices too much” And “treasuries are impacted by the cost of inflation”he explains.

“We are probably in a country rich enough to allow our elders to age decently, but today, the public service does not allow this.”

The Hospital Federation suggests increasing all prices, such as the Social Security “care” package, in particular to make it possible to recruit. “In any case, we will have to provide money because it is not possible to leave nursing home directors in trouble, with a quality of patient care that is non-negotiable”comments Arnaud Chiche.

He calls for “a shock of conscience” on the part of public authorities. “We must give nursing home directors the means to work properly” and recruit.
