“Each time we have had the feeling that there were fundamental values that were being called into question, that there were principles on which we could not give in, we have always ensured that public money , in any case the region’s money will not support certain abuses”reacted Monday April 29 on franceinfo Othman Nasrou, vice-president of the Île-de-France region, after the pro-Palestinian mobilization at Sciences Po on Friday.
“We are suspending our funding until order returns, a temporary suspension while waiting for the disorder to stop” at Sciences Po, explains the vice-president of the region. This announcement comes in response to an agreement reached between pro-Palestinian students and the management of the Parisian institution, which undertook to organize an internal debate and to suspend disciplinary procedures launched against demonstrators.
“There is no question of condoning such excesses”
“It is obvious that today at Sciences Po there is a drift. The drift of a minority of students who today choose to block an establishment with completely intolerable images. An ideological drift exploited by elected officials notably from rebellious France who came to sow chaos and prevent other students from continuing their education”insists the first deputy general secretary of LR.
Othman Nasrou scratches the management of Sciences Po which in his eyes has not been up to the situation, it “proved incapable of standing up and ensuring that basic principles were upheld”he is indignant. “There is Islamist entryism in certain establishments, Islamo-leftism which is thriving and there is no question for us in the Ile-de-France region of condoning such excesses until calm has returned , as well as serenity and academic freedom, regional funding at Sciences Po is suspended”.
The LR vice-president of the Île-de-France region deplores “the abdication of the management of Sciences Po which ceded everything to this radicalized minority” And “we see that it’s spreading” especially since “anti-Semitic comments” were held, he accuses. “Having a management which refuses to sanction students who are guilty of degradation is an unacceptable cowardice failure”.
