After the government’s announcements in favor of farmers, environmentalists denounced a “unacceptable decline for the environment”. “We need effective products”
The government plans to pause the Ecophyto plan, which is intended to reduce the use of pesticides. So far this plan “absolutely did not work, we are at over 12% use of phytosanitary products, while we were aiming for -50%”, indicates Cécile Claveirole, a representative of the France Nature Environnement agriculture network, in 19/20 info. For her, the plan “is not reworked in the right direction”. She recognizes that agriculture is not the only one to pollute.
“We are in a production that uses pesticides, phytosanitary products to kill living organisms”explains Cécile Claveirole, who deplores this use. “It’s a question of public health”, she argues. In response, Sophie Laenerts indicates that phytosanitary products have been replaced by ineffective products. “We can’t go to zero, but we need effective products”she concludes.
