Ugo Bernalicis, deputy of La France insoumise du Nord, denounces Wednesday November 29 on franceinfo a “arm of honor to the idea of justice”after the acquittal pronounced by the Court of Justice of the Republic against the Minister of Justice, Eric Dupont-Moretti, who was being prosecuted for illegal taking of interests. “I expected it, it’s a judgment of convenience”confides the Insoumis MP, since according to him, “this is the case for all politicians at the CJR: either exemptions from sentences, or acquittals, or extremely low sentences compared to the citizen in common law”.

Since its creation in 1993, this exceptional court, the only one able to judge members of the government in the exercise of their functions, has pronounced six acquittals, two convictions accompanied by exemptions from sentence, five suspended prison sentences , but never prison sentences.

A “violation of the secrecy of deliberation”

Ugo Bernalicis “formally contests” the decision rendered this Wednesday by the Court of Justice of the Republic and “requests that the Attorney General at the Court of Cassation, Mr. Heitz, appeals”because, assures the elected Insoumis, the decision is “unfounded in law”. Ugo Bernalicis recalls that he himself filed a complaint against the Minister of Justice in this case, a complaint ultimately judged “inadmissible”specifies the elected official.

Asked about the relevance of the CJR, Ugo Bernalicis speaks out in favor of a “popular jury to judge ministers and all politicians for what they have done within the framework of their functions: what better than the people to judge their representatives?”, says the chosen one. The LFI deputy is “to provide the maximum level of guarantee of independence” to the judgement, and “sense”.

Ugo Bernalicis finally denounces the “violation of the secrecy of the deliberations”evoking the journalist from France 2, Nathalie Saint-Cricq, who, this Wednesday morning, a few hours before the official deliberation, announced on the air that the Minister of Justice was going to be acquitted. “I am going to file a complaint against X for violation of the secrecy of the deliberations”promises the LFI deputy from the North.
