“This is a deliberate attack” of the Israeli army which “is part of a long chain of attacks against rescuers”, denounced Tuesday April 2 on franceinfo Claire Magone, general director of Médecins sans frontières. Seven humanitarian workers from the American NGO World Central Kitchen (WCK) were killed in a strike while distributing food in the Gaza Strip on Monday. The strike is attributed to the Israeli army, which promises an investigation.

The convoy was “identified with a notified movement, that is to say where the information has circulated, therefore the Israeli army knows that this convoy is on the way, this is indeed called a deliberate attack”, said Claire Magone. According to the general director of MSF, this is not “not the first time that the Israeli army has deliberately attacked rescue workers, doctors, humanitarian workers and also journalists”. Last November, a family member of an MSF employee died and another was injured during an attack on an MSF convoy trying to evacuate 137 people stranded in the organization’s premises near from al-Chifa hospital. The vice-president of Médecin sans frontières, mentioned earlier Tuesday on franceinfo, “more than 150 UN dead under bombings”.

“Every day, we ask ourselves the question of the limits of our action”

Three victims of the American NGO are “originating from Australia, Poland, United Kingdom”World Central Kitchen confirmed, adding that a fourth victim had dual American and Canadian nationality and a fifth was Palestinian. “Since the start of the war, the number of international personnel has been greatly limited”there are about twenty of them, “because we have a particular responsibility with international staff for their security”clarified Claire Magone. “Every day, we ask ourselves the question of the limits of our action, the dangerousness. We ourselves demand accountability from the Israeli army for the numerous incidents of which we have been victims”she added, but for the moment, without having received‘”explanations” or “justifications of any kind”.
