Can’t imagine it would take so long, so painful
The diagnosis ends up coming. Marie-Sophie Lacarrau suffers from “amoebic keratin“, a rare disease that affects less than 100 people per year in France: “It is an infection of the cornea by amoebas, parasites present in tap water. The fatal combination was: lentil and tap water. Once on the eye, the lens acts as a cover and the parasites settle in and attack. This eye disease is classified as rare and severe“Despite the care, Malo and Tim’s mother claims to have”suffered a lot“: “You have the impression of having gravel or pieces of glass in your eye. The pain radiates to the head and teeth. Can’t imagine it would take so long, so painfulshe admits. When it malfunctions, your cornea becomes waterlogged and bursts. It hurts very, very badly. I’ve been there too. It was a bad time.”
After the first two months spent in the dark, the treatment is starting to take effect and Marie-Sophie Lacarrau sees the situation improving: “My eye had to be reaccustomed to light, re-educated. At first I wore sunglasses then I started taking them off. My eye has resumed its habits with surrounding light. He accepts it now” she specifies. It is therefore in great shape and with the approval of the medical profession that she is preparing to resume her place which she has missed so much: “When you are hit by such an ordeal, it cuts your legs and you either dive or bounce higher. Me, I bounce higher. Today, I feel stronger and full of energy. I have always been calm. There, I come back even more zen.” Her audience is at least as much as she is now!
