He’s back with a new album. With “Otro Camino”, a pop rock project that showcases Catalan rumba and flamenco, Chico signs his comeback on stage alongside his group “Chico and The Gypisies”. An album which has already emerged since March 31, 2023 and on the occasion of which, Jalloul Bouchikhi, of his real no, was the guest of France Inter this Friday, April 21, 2023.

“They kept the name, I kept the soul”
The opportunity to look back on the phenomenal success of the group Gipsy King in the 70s and 80s. A group that Chico left in 1991… A brutal separation that he justified on the airwaves: “One day I dared to ask our producer to account and in fact, it didn’t correspond to the reality of the success we had all over the world… And that got me thrown out of the group”he said.
And to add: “The producer has divided to rule me. It was complicated because the success was overwhelming, we were playing all over the world… And I was asking the wrong questions. […] After the separation they kept the name, I kept the soul.concluded the one who continues to go on stage with his group Chico & the Gypsies and who continues above all to savor this success which crosses the decades!
“My family still calls me Jalloul. You can be the son of immigrants, come from afar, have complicated beginnings… What is important is the arrival”, he also declared at the microphone of France Inter. A beautiful route.
