Israeli strikes kill four soldiers in Syria

(Damascus) Four Syrian soldiers were killed by Israeli strikes carried out Saturday morning in central Syria, announced a military source quoted by the official agency Sana.

This is the second series of strikes attributed to the Jewish state in the space of less than a week.

“Around 6:30 a.m. (10:30 p.m.), the Israeli enemy carried out an air attack” in central and coastal Syria, killing four soldiers and wounding one, and causing material damage, the source said. .

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH) also spoke of Israeli strikes in the central provinces of Homs and Hama which, according to it, caused the destruction of arms and ammunition.

According to this NGO based in Great Britain having a wide network of sources in the country, they targeted sites linked to pro-Iranian groups.

Israel also struck an air force military site in the coastal province of Latakia, the OSDH said.

Israeli strikes had already targeted the province of Homs on November 13, including the Al-Chaayrate airbase, killing two soldiers, according to Syrian state media.

Since civil war broke out in Syria in 2011, Israel has carried out hundreds of strikes against its northern neighbor, targeting Syrian government forces as well as their Iranian-backed allies, or fighters from Lebanon’s Shiite Hezbollah movement.

If Israel rarely comments on the strikes carried out in Syria, it has justified them on several occasions by the need to prevent Iran from establishing itself near its borders.
