Israeli forces executed three men said to be “terrorists” during a commando operation in the Avicenna hospital in Jenin, in the occupied West Bank, Tuesday January 30. Murders “odious” which fall under “crimes against humanity”reacted the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, administered by Hamas.

In a joint statement, the Israeli army, internal security and police said they had “neutralized” Mohammad Jalamnah, a “Hamas terrorist”as well as “two other terrorists”. According to the statement, Mohammad Jalamnah had “was injured while trying to plot a car bomb attack”. He would also have “transferred weapons and ammunition to terrorists in order to carry out attacks” And “planned a raid inspired by the massacres of October 7”.

“Jalamnah was planning to carry out an attack at very short notice and was using the hospital to hide”, Israeli forces said. According to them, “a big number” of Palestinians wanted by Israel use hospitals “as bases for planning terrorist activities and carrying out attacks”. Hamas confirmed the affiliation of Mohammad Jalamnah and Islamic Jihad, another Palestinian Islamist movement, claimed that of the two Ghazawi brothers.

Soldiers disguised as civilians

“A group of members of the occupying forces [israéliennes] dressed in civilian clothes came in and murdered” the three men with weapons equipped with silencers, Naji Nazzal, medical director of the establishment, testified to AFP. On a surveillance video, posted by the Palestinian authorities on social networks, a dozen men and women equipped with weapons of war and disguised as medical personnel or civilians, enter a care unit and target the attendees.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry denounced on (ex-Twitter) murders “odious” which fell under “crimes against humanity”. The Palestinian Ministry of Health, for its part, stressed in a press release that hospital establishments were protected by international law. He calls “urgently” international organizations “to put an end to the daily chain of crimes committed by the occupation [israélienne] against our people and our health centers”.

Israel has occupied the West Bank since the 1967 Arab-Israeli war. Since October 7, more than 360 people have been killed there by Israeli forces, according to Palestinian authorities. The year 2023 was one of the deadliest in the conflict since 2005 for the territory.
