“There is no mercy,” he said in an interview with CNN.

Nic Robertson says he met two children taken hostage whose stories particularly touched him while he was resuscitating and treating other victims.

“We had been in a closet for 12 hours. The army arrived and freed them. Then they told me: “I saw my parents being killed in front of me. I’m hungry, I haven’t eaten in 12 hours”

“To see this brutality and understand that these are little children suffering like this… it’s going to take a long time to digest. I started crying yesterday,” he added.

“To see that human beings are capable of acting like this, it’s surreal,” he said.

“We were on the front line. We saw the missiles coming. An attack blew up an apartment building. We heard shooting constantly,” he recalls.

“They executed people in their homes. The attacks were constant. They weren’t just shooting. They stabbed, shot and cut people’s throats,” the doctor reports.

According to a provisional report, more than 560 people have been killed in the territory since Saturday.
