(Gaza) The Israeli air force announced that it had carried out airstrikes overnight from Saturday to Sunday against sites of the Islamist movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip, after a rocket fire from this Palestinian enclave towards Israeli territory.

The shooting came as Islamic Jihad, one of the Palestinian armed factions in the Gaza Strip, threatened Israel with reprisals after the assassination of two of its leaders on Thursday in Jenin, in the north of the occupied West Bank.
In response to this shooting, “IDF fighter jets targeted this night (Sunday) a weapons manufacturing site belonging to the terrorist organization Hamas”, in power in the Gaza Strip, the army said in a statement. a statement, stating that it was the site where “the majority of rockets” of Hamas are manufactured.
“In addition, the Israeli army targeted a Hamas terror tunnel in the southern Gaza Strip,” the statement added.
Security sources in Gaza report two strikes against the south of the enclave of 2.3 million people, one against a military training site in Khan Younis, and the other in an uninhabited area close to Rafah.
These strikes caused no injuries, according to Palestinian medical sources.
At least 49 Palestinians, including combatants but also civilians, including children, died from August 5 to 7 in a confrontation between the Israeli army and the Islamic Jihad group in Gaza, an enclave under Israeli blockade since 2007.
