(Gaza) The Gaza Civil Defense reported the death of 11 people, including women and children, in an overnight Israeli strike on a house in Gaza City sheltering Palestinians displaced by the war.
“We recovered the bodies of 11 martyrs, including four children and three women, after an Israeli warplane carried out a strike on a three-story house belonging to the Boustane family,” said Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Bassal.
He said the strike took place around 1 a.m. (6 p.m. Eastern time Friday) near the Shujaiya school in the al-Touffah neighborhood in eastern Gaza City.
Several families had taken refuge in the house, which was targeted by a single missile without any prior warning.

“The search continues to find the missing persons,” he added.
The Israeli military did not immediately comment.
The spokesman for the Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip, devastated by more than 11 months of war between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, also reported at least 10 people killed in nighttime air strikes carried out by Israel across the besieged Palestinian territory.

Five of them were killed in the northwest of Gaza City, in a strike that hit a group of people near the Dar Al-Arqam school, he said.
Three other people were killed in a strike on the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, in the south of the besieged territory where tens of thousands of Palestinians displaced by the war have sought refuge, the Civil Defense spokesman added.

Of the 251 people abducted in the attack in Israel that day, 97 are still being held in the Gaza Strip, 33 of whom have been declared dead by the Israeli army.
The Israeli retaliatory military campaign on the Gaza Strip has left at least 41,182 dead, according to the Hamas government’s health ministry in Gaza, which did not specify the proportion of fighters and civilians killed.
