In the horror of the attack on Crocus City Hall on Friday March 22, a hero emerged. Islam Khalilov, a 15-year-old teenager working in the concert hall’s cloakroom, helped around a hundred people escape.

He filmed the scene with his cell phone. Friday March 22, while the terrorist attack was underway at Crocus City Hall, a performance hall located on the outskirts of Moscow (Russia), Islam Khalilov, 15, guided a hundred lost people towards the exit. In another video, as the shots ring out, we see the young man leaving the locker room where he works that evening to head towards the panicked crowd, even taking care to bring up the rear.

Honors from the Russian authorities

The high school student only feels he has accomplished his work. “I understood that if I didn’t act quickly, I would lose my life, just like many people. When I got to the escalator, I heard noises, I saw people running and that’s when I understood that it was an attack. Since I work there, I automatically knew where to take people.”, he declares. His courage was praised throughout the country. Celebrated by his favorite football club, Islam Khalilov also received honors from the Russian authorities on Monday morning.
